In 1996, Kobe Ervanda Pangaribuan started to practice aikido at PTIK Aikido Club. During that time, he also trained at Bulungan Aikido Dojo for Shinji Maeda’s class. By 1997, he began to train under the guidance of Atsushi Yahagi. After a year, he joined Satoru Shigekoshi’s class. After PTIK Aikido Club closed down in the late 90s, he transferred himself to Bulungan Aikido Dojo. Since early 2003, he has practiced with Toshimichi Aoki (5th Dan) to develop his techniques.

In his years of training, he has also attended some seminars of Patrick Ponsoda (5th Dan) and Seichi Sugano Shihan (8th Dan). He was given a nick name “Mr. Universe” by Patrick Ponsoda Sensei because of his powerful yet hard techniques. Currently, he is one of the senior instructors at Bulungan Aikido Dojo.
