Heru Waluyo is one of the senior aikido practitioners at Bulungan Aikido Dojo. At the age 32, he began to train in the way of harmony. As one of the early students of Bulungan Aikido Dojo, he learned from the early teachers, such as Shinji Maeda, Atsushi Yahagi, and Satoru Shigekoshi. By mid of 1997, he transferred to Bandung and continued his training at University of Padjajaran Dojo. There, he had trained under the supervision of Rudy Wijaya (3rd Dan) for 5 years.

By the year 2000, he returned to Jakarta and has been continuing his training at Bulungan Aikido Dojo ever since. In February 2007, he was one of the oldest practitioners to participate in the grading examination certified by Aikikai Foundation, Aikido World Headquarters. Successfully, he earned 1st degree black belt among 46 other qualified participants. By early 2010, he participated in 2nd Dan grading examination and passed. Currently, he is co-instructor at Bulungan Aikido Dojo and also Kiku No Hana Dojo.
