Since the age of 27, Dwi Sukma Nura has practiced aikido. In his early years of training, he was guided by his seniors. One of them was Totok Murdiyanto who taught him about the basics. Totok is Hery Muryantono’s brother and also an early student of Bulungan Aikido Dojo. Hery Muryantono was one of the founders of Bulungan Aikido Dojo.

By early 2007, he has become a yudansha practitioner and co-instructor at Bulungan Aikido Dojo. To develop his techniques, he has attended some seminars, including Seichi Sugano Shihan’s Seminar. Nowdays, he trains under Toshimichi Aoki, Patrick Ponsoda, and Frederic Huet who are 5th Dan aikido practitioners. In March 2010, he earned his 2nd Dan from Yoshinobu Irie Shihan (6th Dan) of Hombu Dojo. At the present, he is co-instructor at Bulungan Aikido Dojo and head instructor at Meguri Aikido Dojo.
